Unwrap the Gift

It was the wrapping paper.

Savvy child

Spotting the discrepancy

Christmas magic joggled.

Annoyed at reality.

Discovering it wasn’t about boxes and bows,

Wish Lists or To Do’s.

It wasn’t about “getting”

But so much more;

Receiving a gift, unwrapped

Enduring.

Steadfast presents.

Presence.

God came  to dwell among us.

Settle. Reside. Stay.

God came to stay.

Remain.

Is this the Incarnation?

Steadfast presence

Of God who, even now,

Remains

Today.

And tomorrow.

Even amidst the boring everyday,

The joys, the suffering.

Jesus, the God Man,

Lived. Encountered. Taught. Challenged.

Died and lived again.

Reminding the world.

Sustaining me. You. Them.

Then and now

Forever

More.

In God’s time.

Remember

God dwells here.

Creation resounds it.
